Instanpundit quotes this, and we all know that Instapundit uses other people's quotes with minimal comment so he can appear to agree while maintaining the ability to later say, "Hey, I was just quoting... you draw your own conclusions." This time the implied conclusion, about Air America Radio's impending bankruptcy, is wrong:
One might have thought that the same tsunami of voter anger that is going to sweep away the Republican Party and all its works this fall might have prompted a few people to tune in.
Isn't it a little bit short-sighted to say "Air-America Bankrupt" = "Democrats Lose in November"? A lack of Democratic party momentum isn't why Air America is going bankrupt.
Air America is going bankrupt because it is bad radio. Really bad radio.
It's bad for the same reasons that Rush, Hannity and their ilk are bad. It's just oversimplified, sound-bite ready conversation that provides very little to the conversation. It's too bad too, because I was excited about it. They had a real opportunity to do something different, but instead they decided to simply do a lefty version of the same radio fatheads they were supposed to be railing against.
Incidentally, I'm not saying that the Democrats are going to win in November. It's just that this poll is more of an indication of why we are going to lose, not the impending implosion of Air America.
Oh, and naming your awful radio station after an even worse Mel Gibson movie was probably not the smartest move.
UPDATE: Incidentally, Josh, you gotta tell us more about why you think these polls aren't a problem for Dems than just "I'm not that concerned."

Air America is going bankrupt because it's bad radio, and it's bad radio because every time a show displayed excellence and/or a host displayed courage, the show was sabotaged. See Rachel Maddow's schedule-hopping and the refusal to renew Marc Maron's contract. I tuned out after Marc left and never went back.

The poll doesn't bother me, either, though I'll provide some analysis. The poll was not of likely voters, more than 10% of those polled were not even registered voters. Other recent polls (done, you know, RIGHT) are showing Dems taking back the House and being a seat or two short in the Senate.
