It's pretty much died down, but in the absence of blogging, my traffic has been kept afloat by this tiny little post I wrote about Aaron Brown's departure from CNN, on November 2nd.
I've received hundreds of hits from search engines about Aaron Brown, as well as daily comments since the day I wrote the post, by people who are sad to see him go.
And the comments are like eulogies, almost as if there is a feeling that they are writing to Aaron Brown himself. Here's a couple of samples:
Everynight, my husband and I tuned into New Night and Aaron Brown. I thought Aaron was one of the best Anchors in the past 10 years.

From here it looks like blatant age descrimination that they are trying to make more palatable with a lame attempt at giving it a candy coating. They say there wasn't room for them both? Stuff 'n nonsense!
-----
Thanks for four years of great news coverage.
I loved your "weather reports".
Good luck Aaron!-----
Aaron Brown was both COMFORTING and REASSURING during Hurricane Katrina, ...(when we first began listening to CNN over FOX), .......BUT YOU HAVE TAKEN THAT AWAY and given us a younger, emotional reporter who doesn't carry the same 'weight', ...we feel SAD like we LOST SOMEONE VERY DEAR, much like Lou Dobbs! DON'T TOUCH HIM!!!!!
It has amazed me, first of all that this blog became a forum for this, but the depth of emotion people felt about Aaron Brown.
I personally liked Aaron Brown a lot. Much of it had to do with 9/11. It was just one of the many very human story lines found within that day, but Brown, finally receiving an major, national anchor job mere days before the worst tragedy in American History occurred, and he had to cover it from a balcony in front of smoking and smoldering buildings. You could just see it in his eyes: This was the time he had waited his whole life for, and now he had to cover it while watching his fellow New Yorkers die around him.
If there is this sort of outpouring of sentiment about his dismissal from CNN, then there has to be some network executive who realizes that hiring Brown will be taping into a waiting audience (CBS, I'm talking to you).

Aaron Brown, where are you now? I often turn the tv on hoping I will find you on a new show or the very least filling in for another journalist. CNN should be ashamed of themselves. They obviously don't know "class" when its right under their noses.

My husband and I became fans of Aaron Brown when he broadcast from Seattle many years ago. We followed his career when he went to ABC in N.Y. On September 11, I was surprised to find him on CNN. I became an avid listener of his news broadcast each evening and have a tremendous respect for him. I hope that he returns to TV in a choice anchor position. Television needs the likes of him.

I miss Aaron Brown also. He was such a joy to watch! Wherever you are Aaron, I wish you well!! I am looking forward to the day that you return to television, and I hope you are on a different network the same time that Anderson Cooper is on because I know his ratings will drop BIGTIME!!!

As a Paddy living in America, Brown was the one man on the box I could take seriously. A warmth and sincerity about him and I loved his humor too. I miss him and only now do I find myself wondering where he went. Wherever he is I wish him well.

My husband and I have both been trying to find where Aaron Brown went after CNN let him go. It appears there are many, many other viewers who feel the same as we do. While we have no argument with Anderson Cooper (in fact, we LIKE Anderson) We MISS Aaron more than we can say. He would be a better anchor than all 3 of the current national network newspeople!

I would like to know what happened to Aaron Brown after he left CNN. He was such a wonderful TV journalist-in the category with Tom Brokaw and Peter Jennings. I miss him and felt that he was the best reporter on CNN.

Well, here we are, going on three years and still no Aaron Brown -- We still feel this is a great loss to National TV Coverage and would love to hear some of his witty takes of the primary campaigns and politicians. We certainly hope he's happy where he is and that life is being kind to him and his family. Never the less, we still miss him and tho' we wish him well, we wish him back.

We would like to know whatever happened to Aaron Brown. It appears he was removed from the News reporting because of the Bush cronies being bashed...as they should be. Where is he?

Aaron Brown was always smiling. My mom and I loved to tune in to his show. It was a good thing just to listen to him.
What the hell happened, anyway?
Aaron, we are missing you terribly.

We all loved to watch Arron and now with what is going on with this nomination situation, it would be nice to hear it from a real newsman.

My wife and I always wonder what ever happen to Aaron Brown. I hope to see him on tv again, because we really enjoyed listening to him.

Just wishing Aaron Brown was back on the air... somewhere! I miss you, Aaron. You were (and I'm sure still are) a great reporter/correspondent of the news! Anderson Cooper has gotten a little too big for his pants (I used to think he was awesome but times have changed). Of course, we will all be at a loss without Tim Russert.
Hopefully you will be back, Aaron! But if you are fed up (and I certainly would not blame you: I AM) THEN i WISH YOU WELL!

I have refused to tune into CNN the day they ousted Aaron Brown, I can't believe another network didn't beg to get him. I just found out he's on PBS's Wide Angle Tuesdays at 9PM and I set my DDR to record the weekly show. I can't even describe the massive difference in watching Aaron Brown's reports compared to what TV usually offers. CNN- get a dictionary and look up integrity!
