I'm sorta sad to hear this news. Aaron Brown is out as the host of NewsNight on CNN, to be replaced by Anderson Cooper.
It's too bad, because Brown was probably second, in my mind, only to Keith Olbermann for most interesting broadcast. It always seemed pretty fair to me. I guess CNN is trying to skew a younger audience. We'll see.

this bummed me out, too. aaron brown comes off as the wacky uncle i wish i had, and i have this sort of strange affection for him. there was something comforting about his delivery, something really human, something that made me feel like he was thinking that it was all absurd and ridiculous as he was telling us about it.....
bummer.

I felt that Aaron Brown was one of the `top` anchors on any network! What's wrong with CNN? Have they gone batty? Anderson Cooper? When he quits stuttering on the air he may become a `fair` reporter.

I used to look forward to watching News Night every single night on CNN. I'm so very disappointed that Mr Aaron Brown is longer the anchor. How very sad. What's wrong with CNN?
Posted by: Maggie Yoon | November 08, 2005 at 07:47 PM
I looked forward each night to watching Aaron Brown. He was informative, eloquent, and most importantly, the voice of calm during the storm, be it an actual storm or one of the storms of life.
I feel let down by his departure and will switch to Fox. Anderson Cooper is talented and likable, but not an appropriate host in that time slot. He is a little too emotional, and a litle too unsophisticated intellectually speaking.

Everynight, my husband and I tuned into New Night and Aaron Brown. I thought Aaron was one of the best Anchors in the past 10 years. I loved his style and humor. Why would a decision like this be made by CNN? Anderson Cooper is developing in his career, but no where near the talent of Aaron Brown.
I will still contine to watch Larry King, but
the slot after Larry, will be very empty in the future.

I personally was very upset with CNN's decision to can Aaron Brown. He is the reason I had been watching Newsnight ever
since Peter Jennings died. I think it was
a bad decision and will not be watching
Anderson Cooper at 10:00.

CNN is losing it! Good-Bye Aaron Brown
I was disappointed to see Aaron Brown leave CNN - he was informative and intelligent. I loved to watch him with his quirky half smile and sardonic sense of humor when the news/newsperson became ironic and dim-witted. I'm hopeful that he'll turn up on another anchor position. I will no longer be watching CNN for my news, it and it’s so called news programs have become no better than another version of FOX news.
I CAN’T STAND Anderson Cooper! Anderson and his storm chasing news reporting… is that what we call real reporting? Where did he get his journalism degree? What is cracker-jacks now giving journalism degrees away in each box? Come on CNN, wake-up! Anderson Cooper is not reporting the news; he is including himself as part of the news.
Good luck to you Aaron - hope to see you soon!

Am absolutely depressed and angry that CNN has let Aaron Brown--by far the best TV anchor go. To substitute him for Cooper is not only bad judgement, but an insult to the intelligence of CNN viewers.
Like others have stated, I will continue watching Larry King, but no more CNN other than that. Only hope that Aaron will re-surface on TV soon.

Very, very disappointed CNN dismissed Aaron Brown. We discovered him relaying the 9/ll news and have watched him ever since. We will not be watching Anderson Cooper. Much lower caliber than Brown...

So very sorry to see that Aaron Brown is no longer doing his Newsnight. I have watched him for years and admired his very sophisticated and intelligent reporting. I will miss him very much and wish him great success wherever he goes. I am sure he will be grabbed up fast. There must be room in the world for gentle, urbane and brilliant newscasters.

I can NOT believe that CNN has elbowed Aaron Brown from the air. It's not that I don't like Anderson Cooper. I do, in fact. But Aaron was my nightly unbiased level headed window on the world reporter. I never missed his program if I could help it at all. I appreciated the obvious fact that he wasn't just mindlessly regurgitating canned information without giving it a thought, but was obviously giving his reports careful consideration. I also liked the contrast between Mr. Brown and Mr. Cooper's reporting styles, however just how many times DO we NEED to see Mr. Cooper standing out in a hurricane drenched and windblown and probably taking up a hotel room that would be better used to house locals in need of shelter?
This patronizing 'party line' about Mr. Brown looking forward to some time with his family is truly annoying and insulting. I'm quite sure that he does like time with his family. Anyone who has watched his program with any regularity knows that full well. Pardon me while I get out my chest waders, CNN. I'm wondering if that little sound bite wasn't formulated by Wal-Mart's Customer Service Department (thinly veiled reference to to that ghastly Christmas E-Mail)
From here it looks like blatant age descrimination that they are trying to make more palatable with a lame attempt at giving it a candy coating. They say there wasn't room for them both? Stuff 'n nonsense! Well how's 'bout you get rid of that ivory tower dwelling plastic ice princess who only plays a reporter on TV, Paula Zahn if you're pressed for space? And forget The Situation Room. What a giant snore that is. Both are dead weight as I see it!
In a world where class is a vanishing concept Aaron Brown was a shining example of class, sophisitication and intelligence that I personally found to be a refreshing breath of fresh air.
Best of luck to you, Aaron. I, for one, will be watching to see where you go, Mr. Brown, and will follow.

Glad I'm not alone in my sadness over Aaron Brown's sudden exit. Very tacky; the way they fired him. No last show, no "it's been great having you" send-off from other CNN reporters...
Hopefully, the next network he works for will let him use more of his talents than CNN ever did.
Posted by: Sophia Nabil | November 13, 2005 at 12:17 AM
I have been a big fan of Aaron Brown since he started at ABC news, and was elated to see him on CNN. CNN has lost me now. I'm going to Fox and waiting for Aaron to show up somewhere.

I agree with all of the posted comments regarding Aaron Brown's demise. I looked forward nightly to watching him following Larry King. As far as Anderson Cooper goes, I strongly agree with other statements, i.e., he is a stuttering fool. Very unprofessional. Unless, of course, you count someone standing out in a near-hurricane and "reporting" that it is very windy!!! I look forward to seeing Mr. Brown and his brand of news reporting, hopefully very, very soon. Shame, shame on you CNN!!! If you are looknig for "younger viewers" I think you are out of luck. They don't watch the news --
CNN's or any other channels.

Aaron Brown would have been the next Peter Jennings had CNN given him the credit he so well deserved. What a corporate mistake to fire one of the most phenomenal newscasters currently on any station....Goodbye Aaron, God speed, we will all miss your style, grace, and professionalism. Anderson Cooper is like watching a teenager attempting to portrait intelligence!

I am so pleased to see all of the reaction and dismay to the firing of Aaron Brown. My daughter called me in Europe to tell me .... because I had been forcasting it. I kept saying the Anderson Cooper was at his heels and making every effort to replace him. It was so obvious from the beginning. So sleazy....
Posted by: Susan | November 14, 2005 at 09:40 PM
Aaron Brown was both COMFORTING and REASSURING during Hurricane Katrina, ...(when we first began listening to CNN over FOX), .......BUT YOU HAVE TAKEN THAT AWAY and given us a younger, emotional reporter who doesn't carry the same 'weight', ...we feel SAD like we LOST SOMEONE VERY DEAR, much like Lou Dobbs! DON'T TOUCH HIM!!!!!

Posted by: Tammy | November 15, 2005 at 01:50 PM
Getting rid of Aaron Brown ranks easily as the most stupid decision of recent vintage by CNN, and there were many! I guess CNN just wants to cede it all to Fox. Maybe Fox will take the hint and offer Brown a niche. It would be a wonderfully ironic twist, worthy of Brown himself and Fox as well!!

I feel like a member of my family has been kidnaped! One day we turned on CNN and Aaron Brown was gone! What did CNN say happened? No goodbyes! No explanation! Just gone! Aaron was very thoughtful person with whom we felt a personal connection. We miss him greatly, and hope to see him as a news anchor again soon. CNN has lost a lot of viewers, including us.

I was on Guemes island (Washington state) when I tuned in to CNN and couldn't find Aaron Brown. I mentioned this to a friend who told me that Aaron had been replaced by Anderson Cooper. When I expressed my dismay at Aaron's departure she said, "Don't worry. He's well known in this state and someone will offer him a good job." I thought he and Anderson made a good team, but I never liked Larry King's silly remarks just before Aaron's show and, by the look on Aaron's face, I think he was often embarrassed by those remarks. Good Luck, Aaron. I hope to see you on another network, but hope it's not FOX . . . can't stand that one!
Posted by: Nadine | November 17, 2005 at 01:08 AM
I cannot begin to express how much I enjoyed and appreciated Aaron Brown's reporting. I am more than sure CNN will very soon discover what a serious mistake they have made. I have no interest in watching Anderson Cooper.

I, too, agree with the disappearance of Aaron Brown. He was my guy for evening news. I will sincerely miss all his humor, sophistication, and the morning newspapers. He was a credit to CNN, and without him, I'll be tuning into another station. When we lose the best, we have to turn to another station. Good luck, Aaron, in whatever you do. You were the best!

Regarding Aaron Brown, I wish to extend to him the best in whatever endeavor he undertakes next. He was a delight as news anchor, and I can't understand why he is gone, without any warning or explanation. He
was calm, a great interviewer, full of humor, and an alive human being. His presentation of the papers of the next morning was fantastic, along with the weather in Chicago. He had a twinkle in his eye and demonstrated great sincerity in his commentaries. He will be missed; there comes a time when the greats of newscasting will disappear and be replaced by the "best dressed" etc. I will not watch Anderson, and obviously cast my vote elsewhere. Your station will be the loser, and Aaron will be the winner!

I was really disappointed to learn that Aaron Brown had been let go by CNN. What a huge mistake! I will not be watching Anderson Cooper. I'm so angry that I'm boycotting CNN. Aaron was so comforting to watch each evening. I enjoyed his low key approach to the news; he never tried to sensationalize events going on throughout world. I am hoping that one day I'll be surfing through the channels looking for something to watch and I'll find him on another network. Miss you Aaron, come back soon!

Aaron Brown will not only be missed South of the Canadian Border, but by many Canadians who were religious followers of Aaron. Most everyone who watched Aaron are still in shock over his release from CNN. Good luck Aaron, hope to see you soon on another network.

I was stunned to learn that CNN has fired Aaron Brown. I felt he was one of the best news reporters on the air. He reported the news in an honest, sincere manner, and his intellect and wit added to his presentation. I agree with the others that Anderson Cooper cannot replace Aaron Brown as "his shoes will be almost impossible to fill." I have been amazed to see Cooper's rapid elevation at CNN and agree that he seems to want to be the news rather than to report the news. I am waiting to see Aaron Brown on another network, so I can watch the news again.
Posted by: Sally | November 18, 2005 at 01:28 PM
I still cannot believe Aaron brown is not doing the news. He seems to be the friend or relative you hope will come to dinner and liven up the proceedings with some dry humor. He never took his viewers forgranted and had some intelligence. I hope he lands somewhere so we can see him again. The nicompoop in this whole mess is the jackass that let him go.

As a Canadian observer Aaron Brown was perhaps the only reason that I watched CNN instead of Canadian news. There was a sense of calm in his delivery of the news that made one feel good despite what the news was..(especially the way he covered Pope Jean Paul funeral)
I for one will miss him
Certainly hopes he Anchors another Network So now back to CBC

Aaron Brown's reporting was a breath of fresh air making life supportable after hearing the made-for-tv panic of Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper. It's not true we deserve the anchors we're given. Not for me anyway.

I truly did not like the reporting style of Anderson Cooper from the first day he started evening reporting. The persona of Aaron Brown reminded me of the integrity of Walter Cronkite. I have lost respect for CNN news lately. Not only because of the crude and abrupt treatment of Aaron Brown, but also the annoying and stilted "situation room."

I agree with many here that it was a big mistake to fire Aaron Brown. I do like Anderson Cooper though and think people should give him a chance. He did some wonderful reporting during hurricane Katrina. I think there is certainly room on cnn for both Aaron and Anderson. "The Situation Room", can be very boring at times and there is too much of it. Wake up cnn and put your schedule back the way it was.
Posted by: Anita Hanson | November 18, 2005 at 10:59 PM
Aaron Brown presented an image of integrity that I came to appreciate and trust. He didn't come across as reporting "just another story" hoping to climb to the "front of the pack". To me he is at the front and I hope he will move on to another agency that will appreciate all he has to offer.
Too often I see news reporters replaced by individuals that the networks view as the "new shining stars". Perhaps an interesting story to report would be, Where have all the reporters gone? Why did they leave and where are they now?
Posted by: Kathy | November 19, 2005 at 12:02 AM
I agree with the above comments. I will no longer be watching CNN news hosted by Anderson Cooper. Bring back Aaron Brown!
Posted by: George | November 19, 2005 at 10:39 PM
Truly amazing that CNN was so stupid as to remove Aaron Brown. He had an aura of integrity that's hard to find in TV news. I'm glad I was able to tell him this before he left.

My wife I were shocked that CNN
pushed out Aaron Brown. Is there no
place at that news network for an anchor
with wit, warmth, humanity and class?
The smartest thing CNN can do is admit
its poor judgement, bring Aaron back with
raise and let the guy go who pushed Aaron
out. Anderson Cooper and Aaron were the
dynamic duo during their gripping Katrina
coverage. Anderson is very good in his
own style but I predict his show will
not have the staying power CNN hopes
it will.

My mother (in her 60s) and I (in my 30s) were both regular watchers of Aaron Brown's Newsnight on CNN. Now my mother is distraught at his departure and I am at sixes-and-sevens with where to go for mature, comprehensive and thoughtful news on TV delivered with humor.
CNN, truly, as these others have said, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING??!!
I made an attempt or two to watch Anderson Cooper, but what with flashy reality-TV style, segments squeezing the Katrina story dry, and interviews with has-been TV stars about sex, it is no longer recognizable as news.
I am on orders from my mother to track internet stories on Aaron Brown to figure out where he is going next. We plan to follow.
Best of luck, Mr. Brown!

Would CNN not ask the viewers? I do not even think that A. Cooper was that "special" in the Katrina coverage...seems like Aaron got kind of stuck with him as a side-kick. And a good point here was made - why wouldn't some of the CNN colleagues take a stand - it is a surprise Larry K does not have some kind of an opinion on this....surely he could speak up without jeopardizing his job.

I can't believe CNN has fired Aaron Brown! I leave the country for a few weeks and this is what happens! Anderson Cooper is an unbelievable replacement, he comes across as an uneducated kid. 10 o'clock won't be the same anymore. Hurry up and find a decent station Aaron, we'll all tune in!
Posted by: Charmaine Aman | November 28, 2005 at 09:32 PM
I agree with everything written here in thie blog about Aaron. We can all ask what is up with CNN, but it obvious......they are swapping there mainstay format of being a straight news reference station for theatrics because they think it worked for FOX. Case in point, Miles O'Brien and the other O'Brien in the morning. Hemmer just wasn't getting the drama down good enough, so he had to go. Aaron Brown appealed to all of us conservative types that just like an honest and sometimes cynical view of the news - without all the theatre involved. I keep checking periodically to see if Aaron is going to show up, just so I can stomach watching the news again. Did anyone see Aaron's interview in Tampa with Gen Tommy Franks during the war? Pricelss reporting and the highest respect from a leading General. No drama, just respect for the men/women in uniform, respect for the fallen, and putting a face on why we're doing all of this when Aaron got a view of Tommy's life size wall picture of the Trade Center Towers burning and the people jumping. If you forgot why we are there, Aaron helped us remember. But he was also critical, and that is the beauty of Aaron - you always got both sides of the story in a format that was easy to listen to. I agree about Anderson "Vanderbilt" Cooper. Drama king. Hope he can use those frequent flier miles from his trips to N.O. when CNN finally wakes up and realizes they made yet another mistake. Is there any reason to watch CNN anymore? Aaron, post your whereabouts when you land somewhere please!

Age discrimination for reporter and viewers? How about quality of reporting and professionalism? Ousting someone like Aaron Brown scares, irates and frustrates any audience avid for intelligent journalism. Wrong message from CNN to the true viewers, because with the exception of Aaron Brown and Lou Dobbs why should one watch CNN?
How about if we get the playgirl Hilton Jr. to join the Vanderbilt Jr.? Such young, restless and cute reporters should just be watched and not heard. And their peers are wiser, they only watch TV for comedy and get the news from the internet. How about us? Here we go MSNBC

I am so relieved to find that there are others out there that feel exactly as I do about the departure of Aaron Brown and how unacceptable AC360 is as a replacement! Tonight I went looking on the internet for some information about what happened, where is he going, because I am still in mourning from this loss and need some information to give me hope that there will one day be the possibility of having an intelligent and balanced fair news program in a time slot that can be conveniently watched, and found this site with all these comments that contain all the statements I included in my own email to CNN complaining about this absurd move! I think it would be perfect if ABC would do a 9:00 p.m. hour-long news show - like "Newsnight" - every night. Aaron will be the new Peter Jennings. Let's face it, if a network like ABC gave us one solid hour of news with Aaron Brown at a time slot that daytime working people could watch - not too early and not too late - then there would be no need for CNN (what used to call itself a news network - note that CNN now calls itself CNN TV on its website - no more commitment to real news). We could even stop paying for cable.

Why replace Aaron Brown? Where do you get your numbers? Everyone I ever talked to about Aaron Brown, which were many, thought he was the man to watch.
Whose toes did he step on or look at the wrong way? News people do and should report the news the way they see it without the "front office whitewash".
He will be missed but I'm sure he will land on his feet where he will more appreciated.
Was the move politicaly motivated without the actual interest of CNN and its viewers or did he just wear out his welcome? Aaron always seemed to tell it "how it was" without the window dressing.
Do all of us a favor and CNN and get him back on the air. Just so you know, we lose interest and turn it off most nights now.

I was waiting for my anger and disappointment to dissipate before commenting. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be getting over it.
If this is a ratings strategy then CNN has shot itself in the head. Anderson Cooper is up-and-coming. Aaron Brown has arrived!
You lost the best thing about CNN when you let Brown go. And you lost myself and countless other viewers in the process.
Your lost is bound to be another network's gain. Brown will be back!

I just now found out what happened to Aaron Brown after seeing that he was no longer on the evening news and was shocked. CNN you are really turning a lot of people off with your new format and infantile cheerleader newscasters especially Soledad O'Brien on the morning news who acts like she is still in High school. Without Bernard Shaw and Aaron Brown you have nothing left. I agree with many others that FOX and ABC here I come.
Posted by: Barry | December 01, 2005 at 02:41 PM
What on earth are you thinking? Aaron Brown was so refreshing, a different perspective on all news. We could understand him. Anderson Cooper talks too fast and doesn't make contact with the audience. The decision to replace Aaron Brown is a brutal, critically poor choice. Shame on you Cnn politicians.

How strange that you think we who value AARON BROWN's reporting are somehow an illusion, or our messages are a ruse. You might call us the discerning few. His manner, as appreciated in the messages above, was calm, his take on the news slightly cynical and informed. Best combination on tv. We're all tired of the frantic cheerleading hype. If Wolfe Blitzer doesn't take a breath in one of those long sentences, some day he'll drop dead right on screen. Wow! What ratings that would get.
Posted by: Pencil | December 02, 2005 at 07:28 PM
Aaron Brown was the best thing that happened to CNN. His reporting was relaxed and and a delight. Now we only have Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blitzer who have become sensationalists.
CNN is now looking closer to FOX news than ever.
My whole family miss Aaron Brown. Wherever he turns up will be a win for that station and a loss for CNN...I will follow!

Soledad O'Brien is a high school cheerleader? Wow, now I know where I remember her and Vanderbilt Jr (AC) from.....can somebody please wipe that smug off of Miles O'Brien's face when he's talking......and Wolf must be the Drama Professor Emeritus at CNN (or the cheerleading squad coach)......what is going on over there at CNN? Have they brought in College kids to run it and tell them how cool it would be to abandon their "core competency?!" Case in point, has anyone seen Headline News / Prime lately? If they're trying to appeal to another more younger age group, they erred on one major idea.....the people they're trying to appeal too don't even watch the news! Looks like the big 3 are getting my business back! Somebody needs to fire the main guy at CNN - and fast! Where's Bernie when we need him?!
Posted by: Mike Houston | December 02, 2005 at 10:44 PM
My husband I faithfully watched Aaron Brown. We were extremely shocked to find CNN had fired him! We like Anderson in other time slots, but we love Aaron and miss him terribly. God Bless you Aaron. We hope and pray you will find a place that understands your worth to the audience. We will follow you. Joy

Come on you guys at CNN. I loved watching Aaron and NOW WILL NOT BE TUNING IN TO CNN.
Give your head a shake CNN, Aaron was the best, the greatest, the most lovable and the most sensible, with his calming voice, wit, dry sense of humour. CNN'S GREAT LOSS?????????????
Good Luck Aaron, things happen for a reason and I know you will be offered a great position somewhere you will be truly appreciated.

I absolutely agree with all of the preceding posts. Put simply, Aaron Brown was a believable, trustworthy presence, while Anderson Cooper is hype. CNN's lost another viewer here...
Posted by: Alan | December 05, 2005 at 01:53 PM
Please add my name to the list of those who specifically tuned into CNN at 10PM to watch Aaron Brown. He was/is the BEST.
Huge mistake, CNN, huge mistake.
I cannot wait for his return on whatever network is smart enough to take full advantage of Aaron's talent; that network will gain this viewer.

I too, am very saddened by CNN's decision to let Aaron Brown go. He was by far our best and most insightful news commentator. CNN has lost my viewership.
Thanks, Aaron, for all the "Newsnights."

I first learned of Aaron Brown's departure following Larry King -- I honestly thought Anderson was covering for him until his return but no -- one of the great, professional newscasters that you actually wanted to listen to is gone. Not the same without Aaron -- I will be looking for his return to TV on another channel very soon. In fact, Aaron is worth the $2 million being considered for another national entertainment/newscaster "to make the move". GO AARON!!!
Posted by: Kay | December 06, 2005 at 09:34 PM
I would have to agree Aaron was the best. He actually made the news interesting and easy to understand.
I guess he was too intellegent for CNN
I can't be bothered wasting my time watching CNN anymore.

Has anyone heard how the ratings are for Cooper versus what they were for Aaron Brown and is there any news any about Aaron going someplace else.
Posted by: jeannine ratter | December 08, 2005 at 11:49 AM
What I wouldn't give for the rooster crowing again.....Morning Headlines. Loved the touch when Aaron would take off his glasses to read....makes me feel not so over the hill if he does that too.
"Junior" Anderson is a nice little fellow...but we need a man about now...please tell me Aaron will be appearing somewhere else soon.

Aaron Brown was the only interesting commentator CNN had to offer. I guess rather than listening to interesting point of views from around the wourld on different subjects we will be served the usual totally uncritical drizzle of stupidity, which we are seeing on TV in general.
I surely hope Mr. Brown will be back soon.

Aaron Brown ia one of the best real jounalists that I have seen at CNN. Whoever is making all these decisions at CNN should gooooooooo. Ted we need your helppppp pleaseeee. " I am watching CNN

It is only mid december and already too long without Aaron Brown bringing us the news nightly.
Someone should print out all the internet blogs across the internet expressing their loss and frustration over the decision to let one of the best in the business go...and deliver it to Mr. Jonathan Klein - current president of CNN-USA. His under valuing the chose of so many international CNN viewers for his own preferences - and wish to hype and dramatize the news with young, nervous energy and dancing graphics to catch the ADHD viewer
has changed the face of CNN. Watching WOlf makes me dizzy with those non-stop split screens and I feel like he is shouting at us. Paula is sincere and intelligent - but does not draw us in - truly Aaron Brown was unique in style and has journalistic gifts - you actually trusted the man and felt he respected and talked directly to you in a personal way - Rare gifts in anchorland. He was not interested in being smooth or sensational or cool in an arrogent way. Guess Klein saw that as no longer fitting in. Well - Klein then felt it was no problem to ignore at least 800,000 loyal CNN viewers...who will follow Mr. Brown's work elsewhere. The final insult to the viewers( not to mention the lead anchor) was to erase him from website and simply replace his program - without anthing more than an internal memo to the CNN staff to thank the man.
CNN via Mr. Jon Klein showed us - the CNN viewers, the lack of class and dis-honorable way in which they managed this decision change.
It has forever left a bad taste with almost a million viewers - who had once been a loyal CNN audience. Way-to-go, Mr. Klein!
Your preferences will be judged in the ratings game alright and your dismissal of a great many, many loyal viewers who Mr. Brown brought to CNN.

VERY DISAPPOINTED TO LEARN THAT AARON BROWN WAS LET GO AND REPLACED BY ANDERSON COOPER. MR. BROWN WAS A VERY DEDICATED AND EASY TO LISTEN TO NEWS REPORTER AND WILL BE MISSED. I, PERSONALLY, WILL NOT BE WATCHING ANDERSON COOPER AND HE IS JUST NOT OF THE SAME HIGH CLASS AS MR. BROWN. HE IS REALLY JUST INTERESTED IN HOW MUCH CAMERA TIME HE GETS AND HIS OWN OPINION IS NOT WHAT THE NEWS IS ABOUT. GOOD LUCK, MR. BROWN, AND I HOPE TO FIND YOU ON ANOTHER NETWORK.
Posted by: J. WELLS | December 17, 2005 at 09:15 AM
If anyone from CNN is reading this, let me say, you people are idiots for letting Aaron Brown go. Anderson Cooper's a moron, and your network is now no better than FoxNews. You fricken idiots! Lou Dobbs is a moron, too. Merry Christmas, happy holidays.

I found Mr. Brown in the early 90's on ABC. It was a tough time fo me personally with death in my family. I would listen to him and I would be soothed by Aaron's great delivery and style. Years past, and I found him again on CNN. And then came 911. I switched from ABC back to CNN to watch Aaron deliver the horrible news everyday and continued to watch these last few years. I used to have CNN on most of the day & night, but now my time spent viewing it is less than an hour. Shame on them for ruining such a trusted news vehicle. I find the current mix pretty uninteresting. Keep Miles and the "king of scarcasm" in the morning (and Mr King, of course) and pitch the rest of them. It has become anything but a trusted news program, as far as I am concerned.

I'm so glad I found this blog. I travel a lot and when I'm in town always looked forward to treating myself to Aaron Brown's one hour segment. I was shocked to find CNN had pulled the plug on the man who literally brought me through the 911 tragedy. His report was the only one I relied on for objective coverage during that period. Bad enough CNN cancelled his show but to replace it with more Wolff Blitzer -- the human robot is astounding. Aaron's delivery was weighty without being haughty, witty without being sarcastic, and analytical without being too subjective. I miss him and find myself tuning in less and less to CNN. Besides headline news, there is nothing that really grabs me in the current line up. CNN definitely did their viewers a disservice by getting rid of Aaron Brown.

I wondered what happened to Aaron Brown; It was sad to not see him anymore and miss his down home, down to earth reporting. He seems like a guy you could trust and take on as a best friend forever.. I wish him all the best.
Posted by: Roy Wilson | December 21, 2005 at 03:58 PM
I miss you terribly, Aaron...I too wish I had access to the ratings/numbers but I can speak for my house: I stopped watching CNN in the mornings when they dissed Bill Hemmer...And, as unthinkable as it was, I told friends that I'd stop watching CNN ENTIRELY if they were ever stupid enough to remove Aaron Brown...Well, they did...and I did. PERIOD.
Now it's CSPAN, MSNBC, and The Daily Show for me...Can I just say that I have been addicted to CNN for years, particularly since Aaron helped us through 9/11. NO MORE CNN FOR ME.
Blessings, Aaron...You deserved better...and I know you'll find it. I'll follow you anywhere but PLEASE don't go to Fox because I can't go that far, even for you!

Dear directors at CNN, and Mr Brown,
I so miss getting a balanced all round view of World news without excess sensationlism, by watching local Canadian news , CBC and BBC. Best of all for keeping up to date in what seemed an honest unbiased way , was watching News Night with Aaron Brown.
CNN is not the same without him , with his delightful quiet wit , and straight honesty, and delightful personality . a truly unique talented , person .
I hope Aaron you will soon be back , if your family can spare you, after all your hard work. I hope you are keeping well, and look forward to seeing more of your excellent newscasting,w4h9q when I hope you are back home with CNN.
sincerely ,wishing you the best for the future Mr. Brown .. Pip Cowan , victoria , BC , Canada
