So that there's no mistake: I never promised to be above ANYTHING! :)

I just can't do the Amazon Wishlist thing. It must be the influence of my southern grandmother....I would SO love to do the Amazon Wishlist thing, but no. My ex-mother-in-law used to force me to write a Christmas List every year and I would practically hyperventilate from the shameless act of "asking" for presents. (She would also email me her daughters lists, which I would ignore EVERY year.)I just found it so crass.
I DID however register for gifts when I was getting married and that was very fun.
This is obviously a psychological shortcoming on my part, in line with my inability to turn down lunch invitations, my obsession with Lucky Charms cereal, and neurotic obsession with measuring things.

If it helps you, psychologically, you can convince yourself that you are doing it to help your family and friends out. I had numerous comments from family members this past Christmas that shopping for my gifts was easy this year because of the Amazon Wish List.
But, again, I need to such rationale, because I have no shame.

Hmmm. Yes, that helps a bit. "I'm doing it to save my friends and family that horror of trying to figure out what to get me for a gift."
I'll try.
