... lest you doubt the reasons why Republicans got behind the pulpit on the Schiavo fight to begin with, consider this quote from that Southern Gentleman himself, Tom Delay, given at a speech to the Family Research Council on March 17th (Hat Tip: The Liberal Avenger):
One thing that God has brought to us is Terri Schiavo, to elevate the visibility of what's going on in America... This is exactly the issue that's going on in America that... attacks against the conservative movement... against me and against many others.
That's right folks... God brought suffering on a woman in Florida to show us all just how 'tuff it is on ole Tommy and his Sunday School group... Because, I'm pretty sure God has decided that the best person to speak for him is a person with such unimpeachable ethics as Tom Delay.
Going back to Newt and the old Contract With America days ethics have always been something the opposition party is supposed to have. The duplicity of this current crop of "leaders" is frightening.
