Saturday night, I had a table of 3 people. They were in their 40's, and as the meal went on, I began to realize that it was two brothers and their sister. They were all very nice, but there was one of the brothers who was obviously driving the meal.
This happens sometimes, where one person takes charge of the table. Sometimes, but not always, this is the person that will be paying the bill, and you like to try to make sure that this person is happy all the way through the meal.
I'm pretty sure this gentleman was happy.
One of his moves to take charge of the table came early, when he asked me if we had a nice lobster tail. I described our lobster in the most glowing terms possible, and he said "Why don't you get one of those going, have them cut it up, so we can have it as an appetizer." It is always nice when someone does this, because that is a $60 dollar appetizer, which really helps the PPA.
It takes about 20 minutes, but once the lobster came out to the table, and they'd had a couple of bites, I stopped by and asked how the lobster was tasting.
"Well, I just came in my pants," said the man in charge.
Well, I laughed, of course, because it was pretty funny, but it was VERY uncomfortable to be certain. His brother and sister were visibly mortified, but they were able to move the conversation along.
Later on, after their entrees were on the table, I stopped by to check on them again and see how it was.
"Well, I'll put it this way," said the man, "I'm hard again."
He said it loudly and with no concern for who heard him. All I could muster was a "Very good, sir" and walked away.
This is probably one of those things that should be on my list of things that you shouldn't say to your server, but I'm pretty sure I won't run across this one again, so I guess it is ok. But a future note, if you like the food, say so, but if the level of your enjoyment reaches orgasmic heights, keep it to yourself.
And the bathroom is over there.

well now! if the food is THAT good, i definitely must eat there someday!
